in the long run. In addition to increasing your
insurance rates, that ticket can also increase the cost
of renewing your license.

A moving violation counts two (2) points on your driving
record
A moving violation and an accident count three (3)
points
Six (6) points in a 36-month period results in a $100
surcharge on your license renewal for three (3) years
Each point over six (6) results in an additional
surcharge of $25 per point
Driving with a suspended license will result in a $250
surcharge on your license renewal for three (3) years
Driving without insurance will result in a $250
surcharge on your license renewal for three (3) years
Driving without a valid Texas drivers license will result
in a $100 surcharge for three (3) years
Failure to pay the surcharge will result in the
suspension of your license
